LONG BEACH/FULLERTON, Calif. – The Harvard University men’s water polo team split a pair of games on the West Coast as the Crimson were bounced at No. 7-ranked Long Beach State University, 23-13, prior to rallying back to claim a 13-12 win against the host Titans during the Fullerton Tournament at California State University-Fullerton.
The Crimson opened the day against a high-powered Long Beach State team and kept things competitive in the early stages. Long Beach pulled away in the second half. Despite the result, Harvard showed offensive strength with multiple multi-goal performances.
Jack Burghardt led the Crimson with four goals, while Dean Strauser added three goals and two assists. Tyler Hogan and Felix Pal both scored twice, with Hogan also tallying two assists. Jacob Tsotadze and Bradford Dickson each added a goal to accompany a pair of assists from Vilas Sogaard-Srikrishnan.
Oliver Price took the loss with eight saves.
In the evening matchup, the Crimson responded with a balanced and commanding team effort versus Cal State Fullerton. Strong contributions from across the roster and a standout performance in goal helped seal the result.
Strauser paced Harvard with four goals and Sogaard-Srikrishnan added three goals. Hogan, Lukas Peabody, Mason Hunt, Tsotadze, Pal and Burghardt each scored once in support of a 13-save effort by Price.
