BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Annabel Facey (So., Menlo Park, Calif./Sacred Heart Prep) of No. 19-ranked Harvard University accounted for five goals with pairs of field blocks and drawn kickouts during a 3-1 home league weekend for the Crimson to garner acknowledgement as the April 11 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division I Rookie of the Week.

Facing No. 20 Princeton University on Saturday, April 9, she drew one kickout to help the Crimson stop the Tigers 12-11 in sudden death overtime.  The win – combined with a 10-8 win at Princeton on April 2 – completes a regular season sweep by Harvard versus Princeton.  The Crimson, who previously dropped 29 straight to the Black & Orange, has now claimed two wins over Princeton in the same season for the first time since 1994 when the Crimson picked up 10-8 and 7-4 victories.

She closed out the opening day of competition at Blodgett Pool by aiding Harvard’s cause in a 7-5 victory over Bucknell University.

On Sunday, April 10, she broke loose for five goals, a pair of field blocks and a drawn kickout in an 18-8 defeat of Saint Francis University prior to a 15-9 Harvard loss to No. 7/defending CWPA Champion the University of Michigan.

The award marks the first weekly honor bestowed on Facey during her intercollegiate playing tenure.
