BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Brooke Hourigan (So., Newport Beach, Calif./Orange Lutheran) of No. 19-ranked Harvard University posted 10 goals during a 3-1 weekend for the Crimson at home in Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division I competition.  For her performance, Hourigan is recognized as  the April 11 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division I Player of the Week.

Facing No. 20 Princeton University in the weekend lid-lifter on Saturday, April 9, she notched four goals and an assist as Harvard overcame the Tigers 12-11 in sudden death overtime.

The win – combined with a 10-8 win at Princeton on April 2 – completes a regular season sweep by Harvard versus Princeton.  The Crimson, who previously dropped 29 straight to the Black & Orange, has now claimed two wins over Princeton in the same season for the first time since 1994 when the Crimson picked up 10-8 and 7-4 victories.

She concluded the opening day of competition in Cambridge by accounting for a goal, an assist and a steal in a 7-5 defeat of Bucknell University.

The win completed another season sweep as Harvard downed Bucknell twice in a season for the first time since 2015 when the Crimson garnered a 12-5 regular season victory in Lewisburg, Pa., prior to notching a 14-7 win during the CWPA Championship tournament hosted by Bucknell.

On Sunday, April 10, she capped off her weekend by scoring three times and snatching a steal in an 18-8 win over Saint Francis University prior to accounting for a pair of markers with a steal and a drawn kickout in a 15-9 loss to No. 7 the University of Michigan.

The award marks the fourth weekly honor bestowed on Hourigan who previously claimed laurels as the February 10 and February 17 Rookie of the Week during the 2020 season before taking home the February 14 Player of the Week accolade earlier in 2022.
