BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Harvard University’s Conor McCorry earns recognition from the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) office as the league’s 2021-22 Division I Sports Information Director of the Year.

Selected by the CWPA Director of Communications, the SID of the Year award is presented to individuals who “have achieved notable excellence in the field of water polo communications during the past academic year.”

His award marks the eighth CWPA Division I SID of the Year laurel presented by the league office since the merger of the Southern, Northern and Western Divisions into one format prior to the 2015 season.

The 15th year of Athletics Communications recognition by the CWPA dating back to the first awards following the 2008 season, this year’s honor marks the second in 2021-22 for McCorry who previously earned the Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) Sports Information Director of the Year award during the men’s season in the Fall.

McCorry joined Harvard Athletics as an Athletic Communications Intern in August of 2021 and took on duties covering the men’s basketball, women’s rugby, men’s and women’s water polo and skiing programs.

A native of Wappingers Falls, New York, McCorry earned his bachelor’s degree in Sport Media & Technology with a minor in Political Science in 2020 and master’s degree in Sport Management in 2021, both from the State University of New York at Cortland.

McCorry is the 11th Harvard SID to earn an award in the sport of water polo joining Samantha Ralphs (2018-19 NWPC Men), Josh Schur (2016-17 CWPA Women’s Division I), Megan Kelly (2015-16 CWPA Men’s Northern Division), Michael Black (2014-15 CWPA Women’s Division I, 2013-14 CWPA Women’s Division I), Achilles Carmenate (2014-15 CWPA Women’s Division I), Meghan Moore (2013-14 CWPA Women’s Division I), Dan Scotchmer (2012-13 CWPA Men’s Northern Division; 2012-13 CWPA Men’s Northern Division), Mark Rivera (2010-11 CWPA Women’s Southern Division), Robert Rossi (2009-10 CWPA Women’s Northern Division) and Tim Williamson (2008-09 CWPA Women’s Northern Division) as the office has combined for a record total of 14 accolades since 2008.  He joins Black and Scotchmer as the only Crimson SIDs to earn multiple honors.
