BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Harvard University’s Conor McCorry earns recognition from the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) office as the 2021-22 Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) Sports Information Director of the Year.
Selected by the CWPA Director of Communications, the SID of the Year award is presented to individuals who “have achieved notable excellence in the field of water polo communications during the past academic year.”
McCorry joined Harvard Athletics as an Athletic Communications Intern in August of 2021 and took on duties covering the men’s basketball, women’s rugby, men’s and women’s water polo and skiing programs.
A native of Wappingers Falls, New York, McCorry earned his bachelor’s degree in Sport Media & Technology with a minor in Political Science in 2020 and master’s degree in Sport Management in 2021, both from the State University of New York at Cortland.
The award marks the fifth honor bestowed exclusively to NWPC institutions following the division of the CWPA men’s teams into the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) and Northeast Water Polo Conference during the Summer of 2016. An award to the NWPC SID was not presented during the 2020-21 academic year due to multiple teams electing not to compete due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
McCorry is the 11th Harvard SID to earn an award in the sport of water polo joining Samantha Ralphs (2018-19 NWPC Men), Josh Schur (2016-17 CWPA Women’s Division I), Megan Kelly (2015-16 CWPA Men’s Northern Division), Michael Black (2014-15 CWPA Women’s Division I, 2013-14 CWPA Women’s Division I), Achilles Carmenate (2014-15 CWPA Women’s Division I), Meghan Moore (2013-14 CWPA Women’s Division I), Dan Scotchmer (2012-13 CWPA Men’s Northern Division; 2012-13 CWPA Men’s Northern Division), Mark Rivera (2010-11 CWPA Women’s Southern Division), Robert Rossi (2009-10 CWPA Women’s Northern Division) and Tim Williamson (2008-09 CWPA Women’s Northern Division) as the office has combined for a record total of 13 accolades since 2008.
