BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Dany Zapta (Fr., Cali, Colombia/Meriden School) of No. 22-ranked Harvard University registered seven goals, an assist, two steals and a trio of drawn kickouts during a 2-2 league weekend at home during the Harvard Invitational to earn status as the March 7 February 28 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division I Rookie of the Week.
A first-time weekly honor selection, Zapata scored twice and grabbed a steal in a 12-9 overtime loss to No. 15 Indiana University on Saturday, March 5, at home in Blodgett Pool prior to scoring once in a 7-6 CWPA loss to No. 21 Brown University.
On Sunday, March 6, she concluded the weekend by dishing out an assist and grabbing a steal in a 13-3 league win over Mount St. Mary’s University prior to putting away four shots with three drawn kickouts in a 10-7 defeat of California State University-East Bay.
