BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Grace Thawley (So., Santa Ana, Calif./Mater Dei) of No. 17-ranked Harvard University registered eight goals, two steals and six drawn kickouts during a 2-1 weekend for the host Crimson during the Harvard Invitational to pick-up recognition as the March 9 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division I Player of the Week.

The recipient of her inaugural weekly honor from the league office, Thawley keyed the Crimson to defeats of Long Island University (18-8 W) and No. 25 California State University-East Bay (16-15 W) along with an overtime defeat by No. 24 Marist College (12-11 L OT) at home in Blodgett Pool.

In her team’s first game on Saturday, March 7, Thawley posted a steal and a drawn kickout to aid Harvard’s cause in a 10-goal win.  Later in the day versus Marist, she found the back of the net twice to accompany a steal and another drawn kickout.

The sophomore center concluded the weekend on Sunday, March 8, by ripping in six goals versus CSU-East Bay, including the game-winner with 10 seconds left on the clock, while also drawing four kickouts.
