BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Recent Harvard University graduate Michelle Martinelli (San Diego, Calif./Torrey Pines) is among 10 Crimson student-athletes to garner Spring 2017 Academic All-Ivy accolades.  The five men and five women were key contributors to their respective Spring teams with a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average.

A 2017 Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) All-America Honorable Mention selection, she garnered All-Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) and All-CWPA Championship Tournament Second Team honors in helping the Harvard finish fourth at the conference championship, the program’s highest mark since 2000.

A co-captain of the team in 2017, Martinelli concluded the season second on the team with 46 tallies, as well as 23 assists and steals. She played in every game during the year and scored multiple goals in 12 contests, including two five-score performances.

The 80 men and women named to the Spring Academic All-Ivy were starters or key reserves on an officially recognized varsity team at one of the Ivy League institutions (Brown University, Columbia University, Cornell University, Dartmouth College, Harvard, Princeton University, the University of Pennsylvania, Yale University) with 3.0 or better cumulative grade point averages. Each institution nominated five men and five women from its eligible student-athletes.
