BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The 2025 USA Water Polo Division III Women’s Collegiate Water Polo National Championship will take place on Saturday-Sunday, May 3-4, at Division III No. 7-ranked/Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III Champion Augustana College’s Anne Greve Lund Natatorium in Rock Island, Ill.  It marks the second championship in less than a month at Augustana as the Vikings hosted and won the CWPA Division III Championship tournament on Friday-Sunday, April 11-13.

A championship pitting the top two finishing teams from the CWPA versus the anticipated Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) champion and runner-up, the event will be contested for the fourth time in 2025 with prior championships at Pomona-Pitzer (2022, 2024) and Augsutana (2023).  The championship was slated to begin in 2021 but was eliminated as only a portion of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III institutions elected to field teams due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Additional information – including the qualifying teams from the SCIAC, streaming and ticket pricing, etc. – will be released following the SCIAC Championship during the weekend of April 25-27.

Augustana – which defeated Washington & Jefferson College by a 10-7 score on April 13 for the program’s third consecutive CWPA Division Championship (2023, 2024, 2025) – will make the program’s fourth appearance in the fourth year of the USAWP Division III Championship with its inaugural appearance in 2022 coming as the CWPA runner-up.  Following the cancellation of the 2021 event due to the outbreak of COVID-19, the Vikings qualified in 2022 (at Pomona-Pitzer Colleges, Fourth Place), 2023 (at Augustana, Third Place) and 2024 (at Pomona-Pitzer, Third Place) along with Austin College (2022 – Third Place; 2023 – Fourth Place; 2024 – Fourth Place).

W&J earns the program’s inaugural trip to either the man’s and/or women’s USA Division III Championship to become the sixth institution to earn a berth to the women’s event by joining Augustana (2022, 2023, 2024, 2025), Austin (2022, 2023, 2024), three-time champion Pomona-Pitzer (2022, 2023, 2024), Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges (2023, 2024) and Whittier College (2022).

In the history of the women’s championship, Pomona-Pitzer (2022 – 1st; 2023 – 1st; 2024 – 1st), Whittier (2022 – 2nd) and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (2023 – 2nd, 2024 – 2nd) have made the title game, while Austin (2022 – 3rd ; 2023- 4th; 2024 – 4th) and Augustana (2022 – 4th ; 2023 – 3rd; 2024 – 3rd) have contested the Third Place game each year.

Admission for the tournament in past seasons has been $12 for the day or $20 for the weekend.
