ERIE, Pa. — The host Mercyhurst University men’s water polo team finished the second day of the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Crossover at the Hallman Aquatics Center with losses to Bucknell University, 23-5, and Division III No. 4-ranked Johns Hopkins University, 19-8.

Cheered on by the home crowd, Mercyhurst started their matchup with Bucknell on fire as they took 2-1 lead in the first quarter. However, after that the tables turned, as the Bison dominated the rest of the first half to lead 12-3 heading into halftime.

The Lakers attempted to fight back in the second half, but Bucknell controlled the contest the rest of the way.

Danilo Vujovic led the Lakers with two goals and Tony Golin recorded 13 saves in cage.

In their second match of the day, the Green & White took on Johns Hopkins. The game also started well for the Lakers, as Vujovic and Reed Bearden put the Lakers in the 2-0 lead within first two minutes of the game.

However, the Blue Jays dominated the remainder of the first half to acquire a 14-3 lead by halftime on the way to a 19-8 win.

Golin’s finished with 14 saves, whie Bearden recorded three goals and Vujovic added a pair. Derek Kagen, Nate Chaney and Nicholas Miller each chipped in one marker.
