CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — No. 12-ranked Harvard University defended its home water by turning back Saint Francis University, 17-9, and Bucknell University, 18-4, to open a Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) weekend at Blodgett Pool.
The Crimson improves to 3-0 in conference play and has now won seven straight games and improves to 9-1 on the season.
Against Saint Francis, Lucy Berkman scored a pair of goals and Heidi Heffelfinger finished the game with five points after two goals and three assists.
Erin Kim recorded four points after a goal and three helpers, while Emma Gilbert added four goals and an assist.
11 different Crimson found the back of the net.
Orli Cooper and Sutchie Ofori-Nyako both played in the morning with Cooper making nine saves in the first, third and fourth quarters. Ofori-Nyako made three saves in the second quarter.
Taking on Bucknell, Heffelfinger continued her strong day with another four goals and an assist.
Maya O’Dea netted a hat-trick while also picking up an assist.
Gilbert and Niki Piovan both scored twice.
Harvard led 5-0 after the first quarter and 12-1 at the half after a seven-goal explosion in the second quarter.
Both goalies split time in the afternoon with Cooper making seven saves and Ofori-Nyako making three.
