NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. — The Connecticut College women’s water polo team fell at Iona University’s Hynes Center Pool, 14-4.

With the loss, the Camels fall to 6-2 on the year, while the Gaels improve to 10-12.

Iona started strong, tallying all the goals in the opening quarter to lead 7-0.  Connecticut got on the scoreboard early in the second quarter as Brooke Brandenburger (Sacramento, Calif.) hit the back of the net to cut the deficit to 7-1 with 6:19 on the clock. However, the Gaels recorded three more goals to end the quarter to grab a 10-1 lead by halftime.

The scoring slowed down in the third quarter as Emma Luna (Wahiawa, Hawaii) cut into the Iona lead, but a late tally from the Gaels placed the home team in front 11-2 heading into the fourth quarter

Iona opened the final frame with back-to-back goals to extend the lead to 13-2.  Luna tallied her second goal of the contest before the Gaels struck again.  The Camels added one more goal as Brandenburger notched her second strike of the contest.

Grace Isola (San Mateo, Calif.) got the start in goal for the Camels and played the first and third quarters.  Maddie Baybeck (Ann Arbor, Mich.) played the second and fourth quarters in goal.
