BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Goalie Max Fleming (Jr., Orinda, Calif./Miramonte) of Division III No. 7-ranked Johns Hopkins University tallied 20 saves with an assist during the inaugural Division III Collegiate Water Polo National Championship sponsored by USA Water Polo to earn recognition as the December 9 Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Defensive Player of the Week.

He stopped 11 shots in a 14-11 semifinal loss to Division III No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges on Saturday, December 7, prior to making nine saves with an assist in a 20-13 defeat by Division III No. 4 the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the Third Place game on Sunday, December 8.

The award marks the inaugural weekly honor for Fleming who served as JHU’s goalie in 2019 after never having competed in water polo on the collegiate level.
