ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Kansas State University Director of Athletics Gene Taylor served as an Assistant Director of Athletics at the United States Naval Academy – but did not serve as the sports administrator for men’s water polo. However, the former North Dakota State University Director of Athletics has a connection to the sport – as he roomed with former Navy head coach/Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) member Mike Schofield during the pair’s early years at the Naval Academy. In addition, Taylor is now family with the former Navy head coach as he married Schofield’s sister Cathy in July 1994.
