NEW YORK, N.Y. — LG invites National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) student-athletes to nominate coaches for its inaugural Life’s Good Coaches Award. This award recognizes coaches who create supportive environments empowering their student-athletes and teams.

  • Student-athletes are encouraged to nominate their coach by June 30.
  • Two coaches will be honored as “Most Outstanding Mental Health Advocates” later this year.

Why it matters: This award recognizes coaches who create supportive environments and advocate for mental health in sports. Student-athletes can benefit from coaching that prioritizes their well-being.

What they’re saying: “As LG launches this award, we urge student-athletes to nominate the coaches who have made consistent efforts to create a nurturing environment that encourages open communication about mental health challenges,” LG Electronics North America CEO Chris Jung said. “We want to shine a light on those who focus on their students and go beyond the game to make a real impact.”

The big picture: The NCAA corporate partner’s initiative aligns with the growing focus on mental health and the need for supportive sports environments. Coaches’ impacts on student-athletes go beyond the game.

What’s next: Coaches selected for the award will receive a donation to be used toward a mental health initiative at their school, as well as a suite of LG products.

  • LG has also been proactive in the mental health space the past few years with its successful “Transparent Conversations” podcast series and with financial support, donating funds to the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
