BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Long Island University men’s and women’s water polo coach Morgan Allison was recently appointed to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Men’s Water Polo Committee.
The NCAA Committee manages the administration, championship selections and rules oversight for men’s collegiate water polo with duties including:
- Championship Administration: Oversee the logistics, formatting, and execution of the National Collegiate Men’s and Women’s Water Polo Championships.
- Team Selections and Seeding: Review records and select/seed the teams that qualify for the national tournament brackets (including automatic qualifiers and at-large bids).
- Rules and Officiating Oversight: Collaborate with rules committees, working groups, and the National Coordinator of Officials to update playing rules, establish consistent interpretations, and select referees for postseason tournaments.
- Policy and Administration: Act as the governing body for collegiate water polo administration across member institutions in Divisions I, II, and III.
Allison joined the LIU staff in January 2024, later serving as the interim head coach of the men’s water polo team in August 2024 before being named the head coach of both the men’s and women’s water polo teams in December 2024.
Prior to coaching at LIU, Allison was an assistant coach for St. Francis College Brooklyn in the 2022-2023, coaching the Terriers’ men’s and women’s teams. While with SFC Allison helped the Terrier women’s team reach their best season record since 2009, while the men’s team reached 20 wins for the first time since 2013. Allison assisted with all aspects of the recruiting process, coordinating team travel, supervising practice sessions and mentoring student-athletes to foster athletic and academic growth.
Ahead of coaching at SFC, Allison coached one season at Packer Collegiate Institute in Brooklyn in the 2021-22 academic year. Allison has also coached water polo at Asphalt Green in Manhattan’s Upper East Side.
The Perkasie, Pennsylvania native, was a two-sport athlete in the pool, competing for the SFC women’s water polo team as a center defender and a short-distance swimmer on the swimming & diving teams. During her stint as a Terrier, Allison was named the president of SFC’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and was named to multiple Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) and Association of Collegiate Water Polo Conference (ACWPC) All-Academic Teams, also serving as a team captain on the women’s water polo team. She graduated in 2017 with a degree in communications with a concentration in public relations and advertising and a minor in sports management.
Growing up as a swimmer, Allison began playing water polo when she was in middle school. She played water polo for Princeton Tigers Aquatics Club and Pennridge High School until graduating in 2013.
