ANNAPOLIS, Md. — The Sharks of Long Island University closed out the 2025 Navy Open at the United States Naval Academy by defeating the Lions of Penn State Behrend, 15-10, and the Lyons of Wheaton College, 27-4.

Facing Wheaton, Lucas Ramirez (six), Edward Carpenter (four), Jack French (four), Ben Livak (three), Derek Hanel (two) and Blake Duggan (two) posted multi-goal games, while David Shalman, Charlie Downey, Logan Baumann, Dylan Rothenberg, Mark Malamud and Maddex Thornton chipped in solo markers.

The Sharks chomped away at the Lyons as the team opened up a 9-1 lead following the first quarter and led 16-2 entering halftime.  Following a 4-1 outburst in the third quarter to inflate the margin to 20-3, Long Island sealed the victory by outscoring Wheaton 7-1 in the final eight minutes of regulation.

Taking on Penn State Behrend, Long Island utilized a 3-1 surge in the second quarter to break a four-all tie following the first quarter and claim a 7-5 halftime lead.  The Sharks inflated the gap to 12-6 after the third quarter and held off the Lions in the fourth quarter to claim a five-goal win.

French and Malamud both fired home four scores to lead the way for the Sharks, while Logan Morgan and Ramirez each accounted for pairs of markers.  Baumann,, Hanel and Francisco de Zengotita Rodriguez tacked on solo scores.
