BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Looking to play water polo in the future on the varsity level?  Mount St. Mary’s University and Augustana College announced in past several months their intent to launch varsity programs.

Since travel is restricted throughout much of the country due to the Coronavirus/COVID-19, both institutions posted videos on their current/upcoming facilities:



Mount St. Mary’s University

The Mount Swimming Pool will soon serve as the home of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Mount St. Mary’s men’s team starting in the Fall of 2020 and the women’s team starting in 2021.

Located in Emmittsburg, Md., the Mount will compete in the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC)-West Region in men’s competition as Mount St. Mary’s joins Connecticut College (New London, Conn.), Gannon University (Erie, Pa.), McKendree University (Lebanon, Ill.), Mercyhurst University (Erie, Pa.), Monmouth College (Monmouth, Ill.), Salem University (Salem, W.Va.) and Washington & Jefferson College (Washington, Pa.) as the grouping encompasses five states (Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Pennsylvania, West Virginia) and a width of 1,097 miles.


Augustana College

Augustana, which will begin fielding varsity men’s and women’s programs on the NCAA Division III level in the Fall of 2021, will have a new home as the school is currently constructing the Lindberg Center.

The school located in Rock Island, Ill., is in the building phase of the 52,000-square-foot building Peter J. Lindberg, M.D., Center for Health and Human Performance which will include a 25-yard competition pool and therapeutic pool.
