BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Goalie Courtney Overland (Jr., Honolulu, Hawaii/Iolani) of Division III No. 7-ranked Macalester College recorded 49 saves during a 4-0 league weekend at Connecticut College’s Lott Natatorium to earn the March 12 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III Defensive Player of the Week award.

Overland, who has helped the 2017 CWPA Division III Champion Scots rack-up a 7-0 record to date, averaged 12.2 saves per game to aid Macalester in downing Carthage College (10-4 W), Utica College (15-1 W), Division III No. 10 Connecticut College (8-4 W) and Grove City College (14-8 W).

She opened the weekend with 10 saves against the Lady Reds of Carthage prior to posting 17 saves and four assists versus the Pioneers of Utica and 11 stops in turning back the host Camels of Connecticut. Overland concluded the weekend with 11 saves to help the Scots dispatch the Wolverines of Grove City.

This marks her second Defensive Player of the Week nod in 2018 as she previously took the February 26 award.  A four-time honor recipient from the league office, she earned March 6 and April 10 Division III Defensive Player of the Week laurels in 2017.
