BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Pooja Bucklin (Fr., Palo Alto, Calif./Henry M. Gunn) of Division III No. 7-ranked Macalester College contributed six goals, three assists, three field blocks and a pair of ejections drawn during a 2-0 week for the Scots. For her performance, Bucklin is lauded as the March 18 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III Rookie of the Week.
A first-time weekly honor recipient from the league office, Bucklin opened the week by scoring three times, handing out an assist and blocking three shots as Macalester capped off a trip to the West Coast by topping the California Institute of Technology, 9-4, in Pasadena, Calif., on Tuesday, March 12.
On Friday, March 15, at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis., she chipped in another hat-trick with three goals, two assists and a pair of ejections drawn as the Scots burned the host Firebirds, 13-6, in a non-conference game.
