WASHINGTON, Pa. — Mackenzie Caron (Fr., Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin) of the Washington & Jefferson College women’s water polo and swimming/diving teams was named the recipient of the Female Rookie of the Year at the 2026 Prezpy Awards hosted by the W&J Department of Athletics.

In swimming, she claimed All-Presidents Athletic Conference (PAC) Second Team notice for claimed a third-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke at the league championship with a season best time of 1:07.84. Caron also swam a personal best in the prelims of the 500-yard freestyle.  In addition, Caron was named the PAC Newcomer of the Week five times (October 28, November 11, November 24, January 12, January 19) during the 2025-26 season.

Competing in water polo, the Child Development and Education major, she claimed Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III Honorable Mention All-Conference notice to accompany two Rookie of the Week accolades (March 9, March 30) following an inaugural season in which she helped the Presidents post a 9-9 record, a third place finish in the CWPA Division III regular season season and a sixth place mark at the CWPA Division III Championship.
