2019 Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Men’s Water Polo Schedule
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) men’s water polo team announced the program’s 2019 schedule of games.
The defending Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III Champion, the Engineers will aim to capture the program’s inaugural Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) crown and/or earn a spot in the first-ever United States Water Polo Division III Championship to be hosted by the champion of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC).
MIT will open the season at the Brown University Invitational in Providence, R.I., on Saturday-Sunday, September 7-8, against Bucknell University, Wagner College, McKendree University and California Lutheran University, before taking part in the Connecticut College Invitational in New London, Conn., on Saturday-Sunday, September 21-22 against opponents to be announced.
October brings the start of NWPC action as the Engineers travel to St. Francis College Brooklyn and Iona College in Brooklyn and New Rochelle, N.Y., on Saturday, October 5, prior to visiting defending NWPC Champion Princeton University in Princeton, N.J., on Sunday, October 6.
MIT will take on a pair of New England foes a week later as the Engineers return to Brown on Saturday, October 12, before returning home to Cambridge, Mass., to take on Harvard University on Sunday, October 13.
A week later, MIT treks across town to Harvard as the squad faces defending Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Champion George Washington University, Wagner, Bucknell and defending SCIA Champion Pomona-Pitzer Colleges on Saturday-Sunday, October 19-20, during the Harvard Invitational.
The month draws to a close at Chartiers Valley High School in Pittsburgh with the 2019 CWPA Division III Championship as MIT takes on Johns Hopkins University, Connecticut College, Monmouth College and host Washington & Jefferson College, along with Austin College and Penn State Behrend of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) on Saturday-Sunday, October 26-27.
NWPC regular season competition draws to a close in the opening two weeks of November as MIT hosted Iona and St. Francis Brooklyn (Saturday, November 2), Princeton (Sunday, November 3) and Brown (Saturday, November 9) before visiting Harvard (Sunday, November 10).
MIT will host the Northeast Water Polo Conference Championship on Friday-Sunday, November 22-24, as Brown, Harvard, Iona, Princeton and St. Francis Brooklyn come to Alumni Pool with eyes on capturing the league crown and an automatic berth to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship.
