KENOSHA, Wisc. — Playing in the program’s first home games of the season, the Carthage College women’s water polo team fell to McKendree University 24-5 in game one and 25-7 in game two at the Koenitzer Aquatic Center. 

In game one, McKendree started with a 4-0 lead before Sydney Logan got Carthage on the board with a goal. In the third quarter, Meghan Fisher tallied a goal at the 7:16 mark then Taylor Woitesek got in the scoring column with a goal at 4:20. The Firebirds added goals in the fourth from Sarah Lowery and Sophie Flott.

The visitors took a 2-0 advantage to start game two until a goal from Logan cut the margin to 2-1. Gladys Contreras found the back of the net in the second as Logan netted two just before the halftime break. Victoria Hodges scored at the 1:25 mark of the third quarter as the Bearcats rolled to their second win in as many games.

Logan had a team-high four goals in game two, scoring her first collegiate goal in the first game. 

In goal, Evelyn Kajohn recorded seven saves, while Gabrielle Pavesich posted five saves during the doubleheader.
