ANNAPOLIS, Md./ARLINGTON, Va. — The Mercyhurst University men’s water polo team fell at host the United States Naval Academy, 21-8, prior to taking an 18-10 setback versus No. 19-ranked George Washington University at the Long Bridge Aquatics & Fitness Center. 

Facing the Midshipmen in Annapolis, Caden Stover and Asher Jones pumped in goals to start the Lakers’ scoring.

In the second quarter, Alex Gyde contributed four saves to keep his team’s deficit at seven. Ben Gavran contributed the only goal of the quarter for Mercyhurst.

Stover added two more goals coming out of halftime, giving him a hat trick on the day. Gyde obtained four more saves while in the net.

In the fourth quarter, the Lakers scored three more goals, coming from Jones, Aiden Bottterill and Declan Puacz.

Against the GW Revolutionaries,  Jones was on an offensive tear as he scored a hat-trick in the first quarter.

Jones continued to be an offensive threat as he tallied two more goals In the second quarter. Gavran contributed a goal as well.

In the third quarter, Aidan Ivory came up with a goal for the Lakers. Jones continued to contribute to the offense with a goal.

Jones added another goal in the fourth quarter to finish with seven on the day. Stover contributed a goal and Luke Larson scored twice for the Lakers.
