BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — David Alvarez (Jr., Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago/St. Anthony’s College), Philip Jenny (Sr., Lawrenceville, Ga./Collins Hill), Michael Gutman (Fr., Columbus, Ohio/Saint Charles Prep), Ryan Mercando (Sr., Pennsburg, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) and Jonathan Merkley (So., Portland, Ore./David Douglas) of the Mercyhurst University men’s water polo team garnered recognition as 2018-19 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Scholar-Athletes.

A student-athlete must maintain a 3.25 cumulative GPA or better to be named a Scholar-Athlete.

A total of 317 Mercyhurst student-athletes garnered recognition during the academic year as a new record of 3,117 PSAC student-athletes garnered Scholar-Athletes recognition, surpassing the previous record of 3,054 set last season.
