2022 Mercyhurst University Men’s Water Polo Schedule
ERIE, Pa. — Mercyhurst University released the institution’s 2022 men’s water polo schedule.
The season opens on Saturday-Sunday, September 3-4, at Washington & Jefferson College in Washington, Pa., as the Lakers will face defending 2021 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Men’s National Collegiate Club Champion Michigan State University and the host Presidents. The team will return to Washington a week later to take part in the Washington & Jefferson Invitational on Saturday, September 10.
Road games versus Salem University, Johns Hopkins University, McKendree University and Mount St. Mary’s University are on tap for Saturday, September 17-18, at Bucknell University’s Bison Invitational in Lewisburg, Pa. The Lakers will host Mount St. Mary’s and George Washington University at the Hallman Aquatics Center in Erie, Pa., on Saturday, September 24, prior to facing Bucknell and Johns Hopkins on Sunday, September 25, to start Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) competition.
The team will compete at Penn State Behrend on Saturday-Sunday, October 1-2, before tangling with Waner College, the United States Naval Academy and Fordham University in MAWPC action at the Aquatic Center at Mylan Park on Saturday-Sunday, October 8-9.
The 2022 Division II Eastern Championship versus McKendree, Salem and Gannon is slated for Saturday-Sunday, October 22-23, at the Hallman Aquatic Center in Erie prior to the Lakers hitting the road to McKendree in Lebanon, Ill., for MAWPC games versus the Salem, the host Bearcats and Gannon on Saturday-Sunday, November 5-6, to conclude the regular season.
The league season comes to a close at the MAWPC Championship on Friday-Sunday, November 18-20, at Fordham in the Bronx, N.Y., with the victor earning the league’s automatic berth to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship field.
