PRINCETON, N.J. — Princeton University men’s water polo head coach Dusty Litvak announced the selection of Michael Swart (Sr., Atheron, Calif./Sacred) as the Scott A.C. Roche ’94 Memorial Water Polo Award.

The honor is awarded annually, by election of the team, to the senior player who, like Scott, led with energy and determination, intense competitive spirit and a contagious love of the game. It is presented by Scott’s family and friends.

“While we had several senior athletes deserving of this prestigious award, Michael really stood out with his internal motivation to not just be the best player he could be every day, but the best teammate,” said Litvak. “There were guys on the team that were more vocal, but Michael led with his actions, his daily approach to getting better, and always with a smile on his face.”

Swart did not miss any games in 2018, posting 27 goals, 12 assists, 26 steals, 22 drawn ejections and 19 sprint victories. He was named to the Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) All-Tournament Second Team and will graduate ninth all-time in assists with 82. In 112 career games, he secured 147 goals along with 63 drawn ejections and 55 sprint wins.
