2021 Men’s Collegiate Club Mid-Atlantic Division Schedule

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the 2021 Men’s Collegiate Club Mid-Atlantic Division schedule.

Divided into A and B groups based on the level of play among the programs, the Mid-Atlantic Division will celebrate its 26th season as part of the CWPA and is made up of Carnegie Mellon University, Drexel University, Pennsylvania State University “A”, Pennsylvania State University “B”, the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Pittsburgh and Villanova University in the “A” group, while Lehigh University, Saint Joseph’s University, Rutgers University, the University of Delaware and West Chester University make-up the “B” group.

The division championship has previously been captured by Pennsylvania (1995, 1996, 1997, 2002, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2013), Penn State (1998, 2005, 2009, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019), the University of Richmond (1999), Villanova (2000, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2011, 2018) and Slippery Rock University (2006).  Further, the “B” Championship has been claimed by Delaware (2015, 2016), Saint Joseph’s (2019) and West Chester (2017, 2018).  The 2020 season was not contested due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Mid-Atlantic teams will contest a regular season slate of games leading up to the Atlantic/Mid-Atlantic Division “A” Championship on Saturday-Sunday, October 23-24, at Penn in Philadelphia, Pa., and Villanova in Villanova, Pa.  The top four teams from the Mid-Atlantic “A” group will take on the No. 1 and 2 seeds from the Southern and Northern sections of the Atlantic Division in a 12-game tournament.

The Mid-Atlantic “B” teams will battle in their own championship event on the weekend of October 23-24 as the five teams clash in an eight-game tournament at West Chester in West Chester, Pa..

The top finishing Atlantic and Mid-Atlantic Division teams at the “A” Championship earn automatic berths to the 2021 Men’s National Collegiate Club Championship slated to be hosted by the University of Alabama at the Huntsville Aquatic Center in Huntsville, Ala., on Friday-Sunday, November 12-14.  In addition, the team which finishes in the middle of the Atlantic and Mid-Atlantic divisions earn the opportunity to compete in the newly established National Invitational on Friday-Sunday, December 3-5, at a site to be determined against teams that claimed the top spot in the lower half of their divisions.
