NEW LONDON, Conn. — Becca Dabrowski (So., McHenry, Ill./West) scored five times, Esther Hubbard (Fr., Sandy, Ore./Sandy Union) added a hat-trick and Rachel Unger (Jr., Lockport, Ill./Lockport) banged in a pair of markers as the Monmouth College Fighting Scots claimed a knockout victory over Utica College, 14-1, during the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III weekend hosted by Connecticut College.
Monmouth fell behind 1-0 in the game 1:03 into the contest as Krystiana Rehrig (Jr., Pennsburg, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) stuffed in a shot for the Pioneers to stake Utica to a 1-0 lead.
From there, it was all Fighting Scots as Monmouth outscored Utica 4-0 over the remainder of the first quarter, 3-0 in the second quarter, 4-0 in the third quarter and 3-0 over the final eight minutes to capture a 14-1 victory.
Brenna Bowers (Jr., New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way West), Sarah Wright (So., McHenry, Ill./West), Emily Mathews (Fr., Flossmoor, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) and Brittany Lira (Fr., Midlothian, Ill./Bremen) each scored once as seven players of Monmouth’s 10-woman roster scored in the game.
