LORETTO, Pa. — The Saint Francis University women’s water polo team was unable to come away victorious as the Red Flash dropped a 14-12 contest to Mount St. Mary’s University. 

The game marked the inaugural season-opener at SFU’s Stokes Natatorium in program history.

Junior attacker Emese Szucs led all scorers with six goals including four of those coming in the first half of play.

Freshman Caylah Olay scored her first collegiate goal that came in the fourth quarter and helped spark a Saint Francis run.

Goalie Isabel Lumley finished the game with 15 saves as she begins her sophomore season in net.

Attacker Kayla Rhoads scored two goals for the Red Flash to help keep them afloat in the second half. Senior Taylor Halbauer also scored two goals for the Red Flash, both of which came in the second half. Addison Williams rounded out the scoring as she was able to get one goal for Saint Francis.

The Red Flash had more exclusions compared to Mount St. Mary’s as the Red Flash had 12 with the Mountaineers taking nine ejections.
