VILLANOVA, Pa. — Ana Luisa Cotta (Fr., Orlando, Fla./Dr. Phillips) scored the first-ever women’s water polo goal and Rebekka Williams (Gr., Poway, Calif./Poway/University of Hawaii) recorded 20 saves as the Mount St. Mary’s University women’s water polo team fell to Saint Francis University, 17-7, and Salem University, 22-8, at Villanova University.

Facing Saint Francis in the inaugural game of Mountaineers’ women’s water polo, Cotta’s goal came in the first quarter for her team’s lone score of the opening frame.  The Red Flash pulled ahead 10-2 by halftime and held a 14-4 lead by the conclusion of the third quarter.  Williams had 12 saves in the loss.

Williams added another eight saves in the second game versus Salem, but the defense permitted the Tigers to post 22 goals.
