BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Rebecca Valentine (Fr., Blue Bell, Pa./Wissachickon) shot seven-for-15 from the center position in her collegiate debut to lead Mount St. Mary’s University to a 1-1 record at the Bucknell University Invitational and earn herself status as the January 31 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division I Rookie of the Week.
Competing on Sunday, January 30, at Bucknell’s Kinney Natatorium, she started her collegiate career by shooting five-for-seven from the field as the Mount turned back the Virginia Military Academy, 14-11, to claim the inaugural victory in program history. Mount St. Mary’s completed the program’s inaugural/2021 season with am 0-15 mark. The win avenges 20-4 and 15-5 losses by the Mountaineers to the Keydets last year.
She concluded her first weekend of collegiate competition by scoring twice in a 19-4 non-conference loss to Saint Francis University.
