No. 11 University of Florida-vs.-University of Washington Scoresheet (2025 Men’s National Collegiate Club Championship – Game #6)

CARLISLE, Pa. — Goalkeeper Logan Mazor (Gr., Hollywood, Fla.) turned aside nine shots to earn Player of the Game recognition as Florida Division Champion/No. 11-ranked the University of Florida collared Northwest Division Champion the University of Washington, 10-8, in the first round of the 2025 Men’s National Collegiate Club Championship hosted by the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Mid-Atlantic Division at the Carlisle YMCA Aquatic Center.

The victory places Florida into the tournament’s quarterfinals where the Gators will take on Pacific Coast Division Champion/No. 1 California Polytechnic State University at 12:30 p.m. Eastern on Saturday, November 8.  Cal Poly punched its ticket into the quarterfinals via a 16-2 defeat of Missouri Valley Division Champion the University of Missouri earlier in the day.

In the history of the program at Nationals, the Gators have previously recorded marks of Eighth (2000), Third (2001), 11th (2002), Ninth (2003), Fourth (2008), 13th (2009), Third (2011), 12th (2017), 10th (2018), Sixth (2019), 10th (2023), Second (2024) and Sixth (2024) as the team is guaranteed its eighth Top Eight finish courtesy making the quarterfinals.

The loss puts Washington – which has finished Sixth (2001, 2002), Eighth (2006, 2009) and 13th (2022) at the championship since 2000 –  into the consolation side of the 30-game, 16-team championship bracket, as the Huskies will take on Missouri at 7:30 p.m. later today.  

Florida trailed through the majority of the first half prior to pushing ahead 7-6 by halftime.  The Gators built upon their narrow lead by scoring once in the third quarter and twice in the fourth quarter to acquire a two score defeat of the Huskies.

For Washington, sophomore Alex Rowland posted a game-high five goals with classmates Dean Foral (two) and JT Dugan  accounting for the Huskies’ other three markers.  Sophomore Daniel Betfarhad racked up 12 saves. 

Dylan Umpierre (Sr., Orlando, Fla.) and Micah Bayle (Sr., Hudsonville, Mich.) finished with hat-tricks (three goals) to key the Gators’ attack.  Nicholas Santarsiero (Jr., Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) chipped in a pair of scores with Alex Ionescu (Fr., San Diego, Calif.) and Nicky Borden (Jr., Danville, Calif.) notching solo tallies.
