BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Sophia Bunnell (So., Coto de Caza, Calif./Mater Dei) of No. 12-ranked the University of Michigan posted 26 saves over the span of three Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) contests at Bucknell University on Saturday-Sunday, February 21-22, to earn status as the CWPA Division I Defensive Player of the Week.
A two-time Defensive Player of the Week selection with previous recognition on February 16, Bucnnell opened the weekend by stopping 14 shots and drawing a pair of exclusions in a 14-8 besting of No. 20 Brown University on February 2. On Sunday, February 22, she added nine saves in a 14-13 defeat of defending CWPA Champion/No. 13 Harvard University prior to allowing turning aside three shots during 16 minutes of a 20-7 management of the host Bison.
