DAVIS, Calif. — The No. 14-ranked Harvard University men’s water polo defeated Division III No. 10 Occidental College, 19-9, to conclude the Crimson’s first day at the Aggie Roundup hosted by the University of California-Davis.
Kaleb Archer found the back of the net four times, while Gabe Putnam, James Rozolis-Hill and Owen Hale all recorded hat-tricks as the trio each notched three goals. First-year goalie Tanner Furtak posted nine saves in the victory.
Mot Stothart scored twice, while Michael Sonsini distributed three assists. Further, Alex Tsotdaze scored twice and drew a pair of penalties. Tyler Zarcu and Rishi Mohan both chipped in solo markers.
The Crimson dominated the contest as Harvard led 4-2 after the first quarter courtesy scoring shots by Archer, Tsotdaze, Hale and Rozolis-Hill.
The Crimson outscored Occidental 6-2 in the second quarter, including tallying four consecutive goals before halftime to blow the game open.
Harvard scored seven goals in the third quarter with tallies from Rozolis-Hill, Putnam, Hale and Archer. Zarcu and Mohan concluded the scoring as the duo both found the back twine once in the fourth quarter.
