CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — No. 14-ranked Princeton University received goals from Logan MacDonell, Michael Swart and Matt Payne in the first quarter to stake the Tigers to an early 4-1 lead on the way to a 14-9 defeat of Division III No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges on the second day of the 2018 Harvard University Invitational.

The Tigers scored two of the next three tallies in the second frame, jumping ahead by four before taking a 7-3 advantage into halftime.

Princeton, again, started off quickly as the second half got underway, rolling off a 3-1 stretch, reaching the double-digit mark (10-4) with 3:26 left in the stanza. After two straight goals from CMS, tallies from Payne and Davis Wachtell gave the Tigers their 11th and 12th goals of the matchup.

CMS registered consecutive goals (12-9) as the fourth quarter started, leading to a Princeton timeout as the clock ticked under five minutes. However, head coach Dustin Litvaks squad held the Stags without a goal for the final 5:50 of game time to earn its 11th victory of the season.
