POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. —  Lindsey Kelleher‘s goal with 3:28 put her team in front to stay as the No. 14-ranked Princeton University Tigers defeated the host/No. 22 Marist College Red Foxes, 10-9, at James J. McCann Center on the first day of the 2019 Marist Invitational.

Abby Blake added an insurance tally for the eventual game-winner 45 seconds later. The Red Foxes answered, but couldn’t find the equalizer over the final 2:20.

The Tigers led 2-0 after the first eight minutes as Marissa Webb made two saves in the frame.

Both teams combined for seven goals in the second quarter as Princeton took a 5-4 advantage into the break, registering two of the last three tallies. Marist began the second half with three straight tallies, jumping ahead, 7-5, before Eliza Britt scored with 36 seconds left to set the score at 7-6 after three quarters.

Tied at 8-8, Kelleher and Blake’s goals in the fourth frame gave Princeton its sixth straight victory.
