SANTA CLARA, Calif. — No. 16-ranked Bucknell University split a pair of games on the final day of the Julian Fraser Memorial Tournament at Santa Clara University by edging the host Broncos 10-9 in overtime and suffering a 15-6 setback against No. 9 University of California-Davis at the Sullivan Aquatic Center.

Against Santa Clara, Rade Joksimovic scored five goals, including the overtime game winner, to allow the Bison to buck the Broncos for an overtime win.

Jeff Hagen sent the Bison and Broncosinto overtime by finding the back of the cage on a man advantage with just one second remaining in regulation.

Joksimovic scored with 1:54 on the clock in the first overtime period, but Mac Carey responded at the 1:12 mark of the second bonus frame to even the score at 9-9. Joksimovic’s game-deciding goal was scored on a penalty shot with just 50 seconds left to play.

After Joksimovic’s go-ahead goal, the Bison defense held fast, not allowing Santa Clara to get a look on Charlie Niehaus, who finished with nine saves. Tommy Stupp iced the game with a steal in the dying seconds; it was his match-best fifth of the afternoon.

Joksimovic (five goals), Marko Djordjevic (one goal-two assists) and Hagen (two goals) enjoyed multi-point outings against the Broncos. Santa Clara’s Carey led all players with six points (three goals-three assists), while Emil Huebner made nine saves.

Bucknellthen fell to UC Davis, 15-6, as Djordjevic (two goals), Jared Stanley (one goal-one assist) and Stupp (one goal-one assist) had multi-point outings for the Bison, who couldn’t overcome an early 6-0 deficit.

Nine different Aggies found the back of the cage. Holden Tamblyn led all players with a hat trick.

Niehaus made 16 saves, one shy of his season-high set at Stanford University on October 20. Joksimovic, who was held off the scoresheet for the first time at the Julian Fraser Memorial Tournament by the Aggies, posted 16 goals in the four games.
