BLOOMINGTON, Ind.Sarah Myers (Jr., Toronto, Canada/Humberside) scored four times while the duo of Kelly Matthews (Jr., Roxoboro, Quebec/St. Thomas) and Karrie Kozokar (So., Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein) both recorded hat-tricks as No. 16-ranked Indiana University defended its home pool for a 16-6 victory over Saint Francis University at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center to earn a spot in the 2017 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Championship Fifth Place game.

The Hoosiers (20-10, 7-4 CWPA) will battle Bucknell University at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 30, as Indiana will strive to record a Fifth Place finish at the CWPA Championship for the fourth time after previously notching First (2003, 2011, 2014), Second (2005, 2010, 2015, 2016), Third (2002, 2004, 2007, 2013), Fifth (2006, 2009, 2012), Sixth (2001) and Seventh (2008) Place finishes.

Indiana dominated the game for the entire 32-minute duration of the event as the Hoosiers outscored Saint Francis (11-21 1-10 CWPA) by counts of 7-1, 4-0 and 4-0 over the first three quarters prior to the Red Flash using a 4-1 advantage in the fourth quarter to move within 10 goals prior to the final buzzer.

For Indiana, Jennifer Beadle (Jr., Pleasanton, Calif./Foothill), Mollie Williams (Fr., Sydney, Australia/Meriden), Kendall Doten (Fr., Davis, Calif./Davis), Joelle Nacouzi (Fr., Montreal, Quebec/College Charlemagne), Bronwyn Smith (Sr., Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) and Sarah Young (Jr., San Diego, Calif./La Jolla) each posted single scores to join with Myers, Player of the Game Matthews and Kozokar in accounting for all of the Hoosiers’ scoring.  Davis Simmons (Fr., Mercer Island, Wash./Mercer Island) stopped 11 shots in cage to claim the win.

Missy McCreary (Jr., Altadena, Calif./La Salle/Citrus College) and Kelly Fehr (Fr., Erie, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) led the way for Saint Francis by posting pairs of goals.  Lani Merrill (Jr., San Clemente, Calif./San Clemente/Saddleback College) and Shelby Sanko (So., McAdoo, Pa./Hazelton) tacked on single tallies in support of a 10 save effort from goalie Kate Wilke (Fr., Burbank, Calif./Burroughs).

The loss relegates the Red Flash to the Seventh Place game as Saint Francis will meet No. 25 Brown University at 9:00 a.m. at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center on Sunday, April 30.
