STOCKTON, Calif. — No. 17-ranked the University of the Pacific downed Austin College, 16-6 and 19-14, at the Chris Kjeldsen Pool at the Pacific Aquatics Center.
In game one, Pacific outscored Austin 5-0 and 6-0 in the first and second quarters, respectively, to acquire an 11-0 lead by halftime. The Kangaroos were unable to overcome the early deficit as Pacific rolled to a 10-goal victory.
For the ‘Roos, Sophie Oliver (So., Houston, Texas/Langham Creek) contributed four goals and three steals, while Brooke Le (Jr., Flower Mound, Texas/Flower Mound) tacked on a pair of goals as the duo combined for entirety of Austin’s offese in the game.
Valery Piachonkina (Jr., Castro Valley, Calif./Mission San Jose) took the loss with eight saves and 15 goals allowed. Erin McCormack (Fr., Orlando, Fla./Winter Park) made three saves with a goal against in limited minutes.
For Pacific, Truly Dorland (four), Toula Falvey (two), Ana Martinez do Amaral (two), Mia Garcia (one), Viktoria Tamas (one), Emma Myall (one), Annikah Lillie (one), Lucy Davis (one), Aristiana Modica (one), Sofia Leonardini (one) and Natalie Hosmer (one) each found the back of the cage.
Isabelle Knittle (two goals against, two saves) and Ema Nathan (four goals against, four saves) split time in cage for the Tigers.
In game two, the Tigers again pulled ahead early and never looked back by outscoring the ‘Roos 7-1 and 4-3 in the first two quarters to gain an 11-4 lead by halftime. Trailing 16-5 at the end of the third quarter, Austin chopped the final margin down to five goals with a 7-3 scoring advantage in the fourth quarter.
Oliver led with way with five goals and three assists. Le added a goal and an assist, while Cory McGrath (Fr., Flower Mound, Texas/Marcus) joined Oliver in recording hat-tricks with four goals. Madison Taylor (Copper Canyon, Texas/Marcus) contributed a pair of goals with Kylee Noble (Fr., Argyle, Texas/Guyer) and Lexi Wong (Jr., Lantana, Texas/Guyer) both finding the back of the cage once.
Dorland (four), Davis (four), Falvey (three), Garcia (two), Martinez do Amaral (two), Hosmer (two), Myall (one) and Brooke Contreras (one) contributed scores for Pacific. In cage, Knittle (four goals against, eight saves) and Nathan (10 goals against, one save) combined for the Tigers’ second win of the day.
