LONG BEACH, Calif. — No. 18-ranked Brown University split of pair of games by taking down Biola University, 12-6, before falling to No. 10/host Long Beach State University, 26-6. Both Máté Tymcyna and Ilias Stothart had six goals for the Bears on the day.
Brown picked up a win to start the day versus Biola. Tymcyna and Stothart each scored four goals for Brown in the win. Kole Newman collected seven saves for the Bears.
Brown led 2-0 after one quarter and pushed its lead to 5-2 after Goran Narancic scored before halftime.
Biola cut the margin to one, scoring two goals to start the second half but five-straight goals for Brown, with two each from Stothart and Tymcyna gave Brown control of the game. William Griswold and Tymcyna each scored after a Biola goal to put the game away.
Taking on Long Beach State, Brown got two goals each from Tymcyna and Stothart but could not keep pace with the home team.
Long Beach jumped out to a 4-0 lead before Stothart got on the board and Daniel Hadar made the score 5-2 with a goal. The Beach scored six-straight goals to go up 11-2 and an 8-1 third quarter put the game away.
