PRINCETON, N.J. — No. 19-ranked Brown University split two games on the final day of the 2023 Princeton University Invitational by earning a 7-6 win over No. 22 Long Island University after falling to the host/No. 13 Tigers, 12-6, in Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) competition earlier in the day.

Ella Palmer led the Bears with two goals in the game against Princeton. Zoe King, Claire Pisani, Claire Poissonnier and Sophie Golub all finished with a goal.

Princeton took an early lead and Brown pulled within one twice but trailed 5-3 heading into the second half. The Bears pulled within three twice during the second half but Princeton used a 3-0 run late in the third quarter to take control of the game.

Facing LIU, both Alexandra Love and King scored twice in a comeback win for Brown. The Bears led 2-1 after first quarter goals from King and Love.  However, Brown did not score in the second quarter to trail 5-2 at halftime.

Trailing 6-3 heading into the fourth quarter, the Bears kept LIU off the scoreboard and tied the game with goals by Golub, King and Love. With 20 seconds left in the game, Poissonnier found the back of the net to give Brown the lead and the win.
