GLENDORA, Calif. — The No. 20-ranked Brown University women’s water polo continued its winning ways with a 10-6 victory at Azusa Pacific University. Three Bears each scored two goals in the victory.

“Incredible four quarters of play by our team today, especially the second half on the defensive end,” said head coach Felix Mercado. “We limited APU to one goal after allowing five in the first half. Looking forward to a strong finish tomorrow as we wrap up our trip.”

Brown jumped out to an early 1-0 lead with a goal by Katie Klein less than a minute into the game. APU scored two goals in response, but Claire Poissonnier tied the game 30 seconds later. With under three minutes left in the quarter, Sierra Martin scored, putting Brown up one. Zoe King answered a goal by APU to give Brown a 4-3 lead after the first quarter.

After a goal from Azusa Pacific to start the second, Brown went on a run with goals from Lily Weiser,Katharine Knowles and Poissonnier to increase its lead to 7-4.

Claire Pisani scored with 2:54 left in the third quarter and King added a goal with 1:44 on the clock as Brown won the third quarter 2-1 and led 9-6 after 24 minutes.

Only one goal was scored in the final eight minutes of play as Martin tallied a marker with less than a minute left in the game for the final margin.
