PRINCETON, N.J — The No. 20-ranked Harvard University women’s water polo team took two of its three games at the Princeton Invitational over the weekend. After falling in the opener to No. 9/host Princeton by an 11-6 count in a Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) game on Saturday, February 17, the Crimson bounced back to beat Villanova University, 15-7, later in the day. On Sunday, February 18, the Crimson topped La Salle University, 12-4, to close out the weekend.
Facing Princeton Maya O’Dea scored twice, while Annabel Facey, Ruby Hodge, Kaity Greenwald and Emma Gilbert all netted solo markers.
Alexis Kieckhafer made five saves in the cage.
Against Villanova, Gilbert registered a hat-trick.
Heidi Heffelfinger dished out three assists and chipped in a goal, while Erin Kim potted two goals and notched three assists.
Facey, Hodge, Ella Schneider, Sasha Constandse and Dany Zapata all added solo tallies in support of a seven save effort by goalkeeper Sutchie Ofori-Nyako.
In the Crimson’s weekend finale versus La Salle, Harvard jumped out to an early 3-1 lead in the first quarter.
Gilbert led the offense with a five-goal game. Lucy Berkman, Greenwald, Heffelfinger and Hodge each slipped in single scores.
Kim added a goal and two assists to aid a seven save performance by Kiekchafer.
