LEXINGTON, Va. — No. 25-ranked Bucknell University opened the 2026 VMI Invitational hosted by the Virginia Military Institute (VMI) with a 14-4 victory over Salem University. Nine different Bison scored goals as the declawed Tigers were no match for Bucknell’s efficient offensive machine.

Ashley Hopper led the troops with a perfect three-of-three shooting performance. A trio of Bison scored two goals as Olivia Garcia, Olivia Hopper and senior Gwen Kallmeyer each found the net twice. Tamara Torkos recorded eight saves.

The Bison jumped out to a 6-0 lead before Salem could score a goal. Five different Bucknell players tallied a cage-finder before Olivia Hopper inked the sixth goal for her second score.

Bucknell led 8-2 at halftime and used a 5-0 run in the second half to put the matter to bed. Kallmeyer scored her two goals in the fourth quarter to seal the win, while Salem posted two tallies in the closing minutes in closing to within 10 goals.
