PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The No. 25-ranked Bucknell University women’s water polo team was edged by No. 15 Wagner College, 13-10, in its final game of the Bruno Classic at Brown University’s Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center.

Entering the fourth quarter, the Bison trailed the Seahawks, 8-7. Wagner scored four of the final frame’s first five goals to pull away from Bucknell and wrap up the Bruno Classic with a perfect 3-0 record.

Freshman Ally Furano led the Bison with four goals, netting two on penalty shots and two while on the power play. Shyla Lintz (three) and Marta Considine (two) also enjoyed multi-goal outings while Emily Konishi assisted on half of Bucknell’s strikes.

Manuela Herrera reached the double digits in saves for the first time in 2018, making 10. Kali Hyham led the Bison with four ejections drawn.

At the end of the first quarter, Bucknell held a 3-2 lead. Furano’s first power-play goal broke a 2-2 tie; she then converted on a penalty shot early in the second frame to give the Bison a two-goal cushion. Wagner ultimately closed that frame on a 3-0 run to build a 5-4 advantage.

Lintz and Furano opened the third quarter with back-to-back power-play goals to put Bucknell back up by one. The teams then traded goals, but the Seahawks netted the stanza’s final two to build their 8-7 advantage.

The Bison converted on six of their 16 power-play opportunities. Wagner held a 25-17 edge in shots.

Colleen Barron scored her 100th career goal while Konishi’s fourth helper was the 100th of her career. Herrara will enter the Bison Invitational with 399 career saves.
