HONOLULU, Hawaii — The No. 9-ranked Princeton University women’s water polo team dropped a 10-6 decision to the host University of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine to start the 2024 Rainbow Invitational.
Hawaii began the contest with three of the first four goals before Kaila Carroll got the Tigers within one as the first quarter came to an end, 3-2.
The home team began the second stanza with three of four goals and eventually led 7-4 at halftime.
Hawaii extended its lead in the third quarter with two tallies. Shanna Davidson scored twice in the final frame, getting the Tigers within three, but the Rainbow Wahine countered with a goal to put the contest away.
Davidson and Carroll both scored twice in the game, while Rachael Carver and Meera Burghardt tacked on solo markers. Lindsey Lucas stopped 13 shots in cage for the Tigers.
