PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The No. 7-ranked Princeton University women’s water polo team dropped No. 13 University of Michigan, 11-9, at Brown University’s Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center in Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division I action.
Trailing by one, Princeton went on a five-goal run and led 6-2 before taking a three-goal lead into halftime. After Michigan opened up the second half with a tally, the Tigers registered back-to-back goals to go in front, 8-4.
After the two teams exchanged goals, Princeton ran off two more tallies to jump ahead by six, 11-5, before holding off the Wolverines by two.
Jovana Sekulic led the way for the Tigers with four goals, while Kayla Yelensky chipped in a pair. Kaila Carroll, Laura Larkin, Grace Houlahan, Ava Houlahan and Rachael Carver each accounted for single scores in support of a 15 save performance by goalkeeper Lindsey Lucas.
