STANFORD, Calif. – No. 8-ranked Princeton University put up a fight at the Avery Aquatic Center, but No. 11 San Jose State University found a way to overcome the Tigers by a 14-12 count in the opening round of the 2026 Overnght/Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Invitational hosted by Stanford University.
Five different Tigers found the back of the net, while the team recorded 15 steals and drew 11 ejections. Enrique Nuño led the way for Princeton with five goals and three assists. Otto Stothart (three) and Ádám Peocz (three) joined Nuño in notching multi-goal games with Gavin Appeldorn and Oliver Marcin chipping in solo markers.
Kristof Kovács made nine saves in net as the Tigers fall into the consolation side of the bracket and will face No. 16 California Baptist University – which dropped a 17-13 result to No. 2 the University of Southern California – on Saturday, September 19 at 1:40 p.m. Eastern/10:40 a.m. Pacific in Belardi Pool.
