IRVINE, Calif. — No. 22-ranked Brown University women’s water polo fell to 11-12 on the season by dropping a 20-9 contest at No. 8 University of California-Irvine at the Anteater Aquatics Center.

Madeleine Poissonnier led Brown with three goals. Claire Poissonnier, Ella Palmer, Alexandra Love, Ava Schoening and Sofia Holman all scored one goal for Brown. Roxanne Hazuka finished the game with seven saves for the Bears.

Brown took an early 2-1 lead, but UC-Irvine came back to lead 6-3 after the first quarter. A later 3-0 run by the Anteaters in the second quarter led to an 11-5 deficit for the Bears at the half.

UC-Irvine outscored Brown 4-2 in the third quarter and 5-2 in the final quarter for the final tally.

For the Anteaters, Maja Layden and Libby Alexander ended with two goals apiece.  Sara Naulty, Brooke Hourigan, Vivian Bailey, Gabby Graniello, Deirdre Murphy, and Peyton Pierson each added one goal.

Ella Walker made the start in the cage and blocked five shots in 16 minutes, prior to Rachel Kirchner closing the game between the pipes with four saves.
